Moving Beyond Crisis TOT Workshop

Moving Beyond Crisis TOT Workshop

This interactive workshop is designed to equip non-licensed Family, Friend, and Neighbor (FFN) caregivers and other community-based childcare providers with foundational knowledge in Maternal and Child Health (MCH) and practical tools to support the families in their care.

A core component of the workshop is guided instruction on how to effectively use the FFN Caregiver Guide. Caregivers will learn how to navigate the guide as a practical resource for daily caregiving decisions, family engagement, documentation, and referral pathways to community supports such as WIC, early intervention, pediatric care, and mental health resources.

By the end of the session, caregivers will be able to:

  • Describe essential MCH principles that influence child wellbeing.

  • Identify early signs of developmental, health, or safety concerns.

  • Apply safe and nurturing caregiving practices in home-based settings.

  • Utilize the FFN Guide as a structured tool to strengthen family support and connect families to appropriate services.

  • Communicate effectively with parents while respecting family values, culture, and autonomy.

This workshop strengthens the capacity of trusted community caregivers to serve as informed, responsive partners in promoting healthy beginnings and positive long-term outcomes for children and families.
